Today, April 22nd 2021 marks the 51st year of Earth Day; a celebration, movement and activator of environmental protection. Having been founded in 1970, EarthDay.Org today has over 75,000 partners collectively working together. Aiming to create a better world and highlight the dangers it is in.
This year’s theme is Restore our Earth, with climate action summits being held in order to influence. With Earth wanting to bring climate justice to the forefront.
The organisation state Earth Day is “widely recognised as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behaviour and create global, national and local policy changes.”
With the climate crisis progressing at a rapid pace, movements such as Earth Day are needed now more than ever. There are many ways to get involved, with the previously mentioned summits being available to watch online. As well as a mass of information online on how you can help fight the crisis.
Activism can be as little as sharing on social media to participating at climate protests. Whatever you can do, it’s so important that we make 2021 the year we all get involved in Earth Day.
