You may be familiar by now with a whole host of sustainability-themed weeks. All highlighting important issues surrounding the ever-growing, ever more daunting climate crisis. Earth Day is one example of a global event highlighting the action needed. Well, starting from tomorrow is another fantastic week of championing climate action, created by The Climate Coalition. The Great Big Green Week 2021, starting on the 18th of September (which is coincidentally my birthday too!) is a national week of events celebrating action on climate change.
The Climate Coalition, founded in 2005, is a charity that is the UK’s largest group of people dedicated to action against climate change.
“The Big Green Week is a national week of events celebrating action on climate change”
The Great Big Green Week 2021 is said to be the biggest week of climate campaigning in the UK. With the message “Together we will call on politicians to raise their ambition and champion action on climate change”. With people around the country hosting a variety of events to champion climate action, from stalls to concerts!
There are many ways to get involved yourself, such as writing to your MP – The Climate Coalition provide some great advice. This is something I am going to make sure to do this week. I myself have also signed up to be notified of any events that are in my area during the week. To which I’ll try my best to go if I can!
However possible, being part of The Big Green Week 2021 has never been more crucial as the climate crisis worsens. It’s a scary time for humanity. But, with the right backing from MPs perhaps we can curbs the 1.5C temperates rise before it’s too late.
