Podcast of the month: Rubbish Talk

At present, the waste industry seems to be peppered with insightful and informative podcasts; having discovered another gem, I thought it was worth sharing. The latest one to have joined my roster is the Rubbish Talk podcast by Albion Environmental Ltd, hosted by waste professionals Alasdair Meldrum and Jane Bond.

Each week, the podcast follows a similar format. It has a mix of the latest waste news as well as interesting discussions with other professionals from the industry. What’s great about it is [and to quote the host himself], the information shared is simple and easy to digest. As they mention, ‘the waste industry is very good at talking to the waste industry’. However, not to very many people outside that sphere. Waste terms are broken down and explained and I find I learn more and more from each episode.

I wouldn’t consider myself a waste professional, but I am a sustainability professional with a huge interest in waste. I find Rubbish Talk a great podcast to keep up-to-date with the latest news and learn from others in the industry. Particularly, their career journey and how they got to where they are.

One episode I enjoyed recently was their conversation with waste campaigner Laura Young, best known as Less Waste Laura online. She spoke of her work in campaigning for bans on disposable vapes. It was particularly inspiring to hear about her meetings with local councillors to discuss the issue.

Rubbish Talk is definitely one to consider if you’re on the hunt for waste management podcasts – you won’t be disappointed!
